The life of your permanent cosmetics will depend on the artists technique as well as the color selection. Wearing sun screen and avoiding harmful chemicals willalso prevent premature fading. Touch-ups are recommended on an average of every two years to keep the color vibrant.
A strong topical anesthetic is used to alleviate discomfort during the cosmetic tattooing procedure.
Minimal swelling is normal for two to three days. During the first week the implanted color will appear darker. The skin will heal, peel and fade to reveal your beautiful and natural looking results! This process takes about 2 to 6 weeks.

Do I have to wear the same color for life?
No! And best of all the colors will be selected by you and your specialist. Soft neutral colors are best to compliment you now and in the future.
- Anti-coagulants should be avoided at least 7 days prior to your procedure. Prescribed medications are NOT to be discontinued without the prescribing physicians written clearance. Dermagrafix is not responsible for individuals who electively choose to stop taking prescribed health medication(s). Aspirin, baby Aspirin and migraine medicines should be avoided for 7 days - IF tolerated by your physician. Supplements such as Vit C over 400 I.U.'s and St. Johns Wort are best avoided as well.
- Topical steroidal creams should not be applied several days prior to the scheduled procedure as it may interfere with the wound healing. It is suggested that you finish your steroidal cream cycle several days before having any permanent cosmetic procedure. (Only if the tattoo is to be done on the same area that the cream is being applied.)
- Oral Antibiotics may or may not have an effect on the healing and or color of the tattoo. It is best to finish the prescribed medicine and schedule your procedure when your physician feels it is safe to continue.
- Please avoid alcoholic beverages for 48 hours prior to your procedure. Clients that do not adhere to these instructions will not be seen and may lose their paid deposit for last minute schedule changes.
- Facial waxing should be performed no later than 2 days before the procedure application and no sooner than 4 days after.
- Ibuprofen should remain out of the body for 48 hours - if tolerated by your physician.
- Limit coffee intake to no more than one cup the morning of the procedure.
- If you work in an environment where germs, biohazard materials or chemicals are present, then you may want to avoid being in that environment the day of and possibly even the day following your procedure. Make appropriate arrangements in advance.
- Please arrive wearing no makeup on the area to be involved. If eyeliner please make sure all traces of mascara and eyeliner are removed.
- If you will be taking prescription medications that may alter your ability to see or drive, please arrange for alternate transportation in advance. A doctors note must be provided if you will be taking any medications the day of your procedure.
- If you wear contacts you will want to bring a contacts case so you can remove your contacts as needed. In addition you may also want to bring a pair of eyeglasses as most clients are unable to insert contacts after the procedure.
- Tanning beds, prolonged sun exposure, chlorinated pools, hot tubs, exercise gyms and saunas are considered an unclean environment for a healing tattoo. Bacterial infections and/or poor healing may occur. Avoid all of the above for 5 days post procedure. Smoking prolongs healing.
- Diabetics are slow healers and need clearance from their physician prior to treatment.
