Collagen induction therapy is a treatment to stimulate collagen and connective tissue growth deep in dermal layers of a skin defect. The intrusion of the needle creates an injury that is controlled by the technician. The body’s natural repair defenses become active and start rebuilding the underlying tissues creating more collagen to fill the depressed void. The body is responsible for the amount of repair that is created and the results are permanent.
- Depressed scarring (s/a acne scars)

- Contractures from burns or scar tissue
This treatment usually involves more than one procedure and can be combined with other treatments to get optimum results. Other treatments that should be considered are Microdermabrasion and LED therapy. The use of retinoic acids, vitamin c, and hyaluronic acids are extremely beneficial for cell health, metabolism, wound hydration, and anti-inflammatory benefits.
The area is anesthetized safely using topical Lidocaine and Benzocaine anesthetics and is usually very comfortable for just about every client.
The newly injured area will look very red and have a superficial crust for the first few days. Then the skin will peel and a pinkish hue can be seen. After seven days the skin is greatly improved with only a faint hue of pink (easily covered by medical camouflage cream). After a full 6 weeks the skin is completely healed with a new bed of collagen in the dermal layers. The visual appearance of the defect is greatly improved. Treatments can be repeated starting at the six week mark.
